Contractor Terms

Last updated: October 31, 2026

These Contractor Terms apply when you offer services or accept work through NextContract. They are part of our Terms of Service.

1. Your business

You are an independent business, not an employee, partner or agent of NextContract. You decide how you run your business and do your work.

You are responsible for the licenses, permits, insurance and registrations your work requires, and for keeping your business information accurate. That includes any rules the law sets for how you handle job payments, such as construction account requirements.

2. Listings, quotes and contracts

You set your own prices and are responsible for your listings and quotes. They must be accurate, and they must describe work you can actually do. The same goes for any website you build with NextContract.

When a customer accepts your quote and signs, your contract is with that customer. NextContract is not a party to it. You are responsible for doing the work as agreed, and for your crew and subcontractors.

3. NextContract as your payment agent

You appoint NextContract as your limited agent to accept payments from your customers on your behalf, and your listings, quotes and contracts will say so. When we receive a customer's payment, that customer has paid you that amount and owes you nothing more for it.

You authorize us to carry out refunds on your behalf, as described below.

4. Getting paid

To get paid, you need to complete payment setup with our payment provider, which includes verifying your identity and your bank account.

You agree to the payout timing in each job's payment plan as your own payment terms. You are paid in stages as you finish each step, after the customer's notice period ends, and a final part of the job is paid after a clearance period. You may be able to request part of a job's first payment early for materials.

A step that isn't finished as described doesn't earn the next payment.

5. Fees

Our fees and payment processing costs are shown before you send a quote, and they are taken from the payments on that job.

6. Refunds, disputes and chargebacks

Customers can open a dispute through NextContract. You will usually get a fair chance to look at the problem and fix it. If that doesn't settle it, our support team will hear both sides and make the final decision on money paid through NextContract. You agree to that process when you use NextContract.

Clear events, such as a no-show or an abandoned job, may lead to a refund. If money is refunded or reversed because of your job, you agree that we may recover it from your later payouts or ask you to repay it. We may delay a payout while a dispute, claim or account review is open.

This doesn't take away your right to go to court, or any other right you have by law.

7. Subcontractors, suppliers and claims

You are responsible for paying your subcontractors and suppliers on time, and for resolving any claim they make on a job. You agree to provide the statements and documents a job requires.

8. Taxes

You are responsible for your own taxes. We may send you and the tax authorities information about your payments, and we may collect and send in sales tax where the law requires it.

9. Working on NextContract

Keep communication and payments for jobs you find through NextContract on NextContract. You agree not to move a job off the platform to avoid our fees.

Show up when you say you will, keep customers updated, and post progress on your jobs. We may contact you about a job that has gone quiet. Missed jobs, complaints or other problems can affect your listing and your account.
