NextContract

Customer Terms

Last updated: October 31, 2026

These Customer Terms apply when you use NextContract to find, hire or pay a contractor. They are part of our Terms of Service.

1. Hiring a contractor

When you accept a quote and sign a contract, your agreement is with the contractor. NextContract is not a party to it and does not perform the work. Contractors are independent businesses.

Please read your contract and payment plan before you sign. You agree to give accurate information about your project and to provide the access the contractor needs to do the work.

2. Paying through NextContract

You pay for your job through NextContract, in the parts shown in the payment plan you approve. You authorize us to charge your saved payment method for each part, as described in that plan. We will tell you before each payment runs. Your card statement will show NextContract and your contractor's name.

Your contractor has appointed NextContract as its limited agent to accept your payments. When we receive a payment, you have paid your contractor that amount, and you won't owe it again if we fail to pass it on.

Please keep payments for your job on NextContract. Paying a contractor directly can leave you without the tools and support described here.

3. How your contractor gets paid

Your contractor is paid in stages as the work gets done. When a step is finished, you will get a notice with the details. You have the time shown in that notice to open a dispute. If you don't, that payment goes out.

This only moves the payment. It doesn't mean you accepted the work, and you keep your warranty and all your legal rights.

4. If a payment fails

If a payment doesn't go through, we will let you know and give you time to pay another way. The next step of the job may wait until then, and the job may stop if the payment stays unpaid.

5. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel as described in your contract and payment plan. Those documents show when cancelling is free and when costs may apply. Nothing here limits any legal right you have to cancel.

Refunds under your contract are your contractor's refunds, which your contractor has authorized us to carry out. We send refunds to your original payment method where we can. Your bank may take a few days to show them.

6. If something goes wrong

If there is a problem, use Open dispute in NextContract and choose the reason. Different reasons follow different paths, and your contractor will usually get a fair chance to look at the problem and fix it.

If that doesn't settle it, our support team will hear both sides and make the final decision on money paid through NextContract. You agree to that process when you use NextContract.

This doesn't take away your right to go to court, or any other right you have by law.

7. Reviews

Reviews should be honest and based on your own experience with the job. We may remove reviews that break our rules.
